When reading the first look of this book I thought it would be about a magical adventure in a magical world trying to resolve the conflict that was first presented - the sea losing its color. But this is not that story. It is a book with a half-baked plot at best and no world development whatsoever. This story might as well have taken place here on Earth, instead of whatever fictional world the author concocted. There is no explanation for anything; the golub, why the sea is pink, or why it actually lost its color.
And in the end nothing really gets resolved. RAF finds out he can date Yas because his uncle was lying about all the rules, but that is the only explanation given to why the sea lost its color. So if RAF was allowed to have feelings for Yas the whole time, then what is the real reason the sea lost its color.
This is a romance - that does not really develop the characters well or make you feel like they are fully in love with each other. On top of that it is built on the most confusing setting in a fictional world that is never explained to the reader, and has little to no bearing on the story. This could easily have been set on earth with a big business disappearing from town causing the town to go bankrupt. And raf and yas would have to figure it out together. That would’ve been essentially the same story without the confusion that comes with trying to understand a world the author doesn’t explain.
