Romance novels are not usually what I pick up to read for myself, but for some reason, the cover on Forty Words for Love caught my eye and I decided to take a chance on it.

The romance toys with the story of Romeo and Juliet, one of my least favorite stories, but in this case, it really worked. Rafay's family ends up being relocated after their home is destroyed so they are sent to stay in Yasmine's neck of the woods. After this relocation, Yasmine and Rafay become close and even ten years later, are still close friends.
Even though the plot may seem predictable, the journey is not all you think it will be. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and am glad I gave it the time it deserves.

The author, Aisha Saeed, is one of the founding members of the We Need Diverse Books Campaign and I am glad she is writing herself! She has a gift that needs to be shared and I love that she is helping change the conversation about representation and inclusivity in literature!
