This book was fairly good. The "magic" system was intriguing and the concept was a great one. It just not read as fantasy as I wanted it to. The only elements of magic were a leaf on the wrist of people who came from a different world, the tree in which they came through, and the magic waters of the town. None of which were ever really developed as concepts, more just mentioned and the reader was expected to just take it at face value and not want more. As a mostly fantasy reader (through all age ranges of reading) it was not enough to get me into the story.

Mostly this read like a contemporary romance. Take out the brief mentions of the magical elements and that is what you have. And it is just not what I expected going into this. I think that if I would have entered into this expecting a YA contemporary romance I may have ended up liking this book better. The characters did have good development and the town itself had a good dynamic.

Overall it was not a bad read, just not what I expected.
