The first impression felt pretty long for me. Although I'm not typically a fantasy reader, this didn't seem as fantastical as others in the genre. Instead I couldn't really get into the story - it felt long and drawn out. The "Before" chapter was actually well-paced and interesting, but from there, I found myself losing interest in reading further.
