I really like the way this book makes you think about the perspectives of everyone involved. It's such a horrible and complicated situation. I also like the messages about what constitutes forgiveness and how people can move forward. These are such difficult issues and they often don't get enough attention because they make people feel uncomfortable. People want to believe that the law can just handle everything and then everyone should be able to get over it, but that's not how life works. This book is also really ambitious because it addresses so many big issues, not just forgiveness and the family relationship, but also drunk driving and the juvenile justice system. I though the dystopian element would be what sets this book apart, and it does, but the range of difficult issues this book addresses is the real thing that will keep me thinking about it.
