Forgive Me Not was haunting, poignant, and a tale of family through times of grief. It was heartbreaking to read as Violetta went through her trials and her family watched, all while Vince struggled with the loss of both of his sisters. The character development and world-building were superb. This commentary on the justice system is needed in today's society. As a student of Anthropology, this story resonated with me as it shows how society could easily end up in similar pitfalls. Without giving too much away, this is a dystopian novel that isn't so much about the drunk-driving aspect, but the juvenile penial system and its ramifications on the accused, victims, and those closest to them. At it's core it is about growth and acceptance. This was one of my most highly recommended books of this year, and I don't think enough people are talking about it.
