the way this book started off actually reminded me a lot of shatter me. This book is broken up into parts, with the first being the sentencing. But chapter one starts with our main character Violetta on day twenty two of detention. We can see her keeping track with tally marks. This book was painful to read yet it was an important read. It taught me so much about our detention system for juveniles. I had no idea about any of this previously and even though there's a dystopian aspect to this book, it bleeds into real life. Forgive me not is a young adult contemporary novel by Jennifer Baker that brings a much needed perspective on a topic not many people are aware of. My opinion from reading the synopsis to the end of this book changed drastically. It's impressive when an author is able to do that. There is also queer representation in this book
