I was really struck by this first look! Violetta's perspective really drew me in and made me feel so much for her right away. I was intrigued and fascinated by the trial system, and felt like the author of the book did a really good job of letting the audience in on what trials are in a way that felt natural for the world, rather than an exposition dump. The setting and incarceration Violetta faces feels so real and flows very well into our actual world, even with the addition of the fictional Trial system. Overall, this first look was very powerful and sets up a deeply compelling story.
