I'm not exactly sure what The Trials become but the name makes me worry this will turn into more of a sci fi tale, instead of realistic YA fiction. I don't find all of the premise believable, either. For example, the protagonist is arrested for a DUI even though 15 isn't old enough to drive in most states. The writing is adequate but the plot and characters aren't pulling me in.
