The beginning of this is an interesting premise. If a juvenile commits a crime, the victim's family can either send them to prison, forgive, or send the criminals to the Trials. This is such an interesting set up, especially when Letta is being sentenced to the Trials by her own family. I think there is much more depth to explore in terms of grief, racism, and family dynamics.
