I don't know if a real life version of the Trials exists, but if it doesn't I like the premise of it - more than Violetta does in this story. I think it speaks to the age group and rehabilitating behaviors and understanding consequences. I like how the author goes back and forth between Violetta and her older brother Vincent, so the reader sees not just her perspective but how her actions have consequences for another member of the family.
