So many of us think that social media is harmless. Followers show just how dangerous it can be. The story takes place in two different time lines. There is the present day which is before the "spill" and then there is the future, where social media has become something completely different.
Orlo and Floss's story takes place pre spill. Orlo has a knack for writing but is stuck writing for gossip. Floss is determined to be known. All she wants to do is be famous and social media is just the way to do it. Floss has the moral compass of a bug to be honest, but Orlo does what she says even when she doesn't want to.
In the future we meet Marlow. Marlow's story reminded me of a Truman Show or Ed TV theme. Her life is documented daily with sponsors etc and its heavily controlled by the government. Everything is since the spill.
This is a great reminder of the damage that can result from sharing too much online. I'm shocked that this is Megan Angelo's first novel! This should be ready by everyone!
