first saw the cover, I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. The title really grabbed my attention too. And when I read the synopsis, I just knew I had to read it! Followers by Megan Angelo gives us a glimpse into the future of social media, technology and our privacy. This is what I enjoyed most about the novel. I found the concept of the story incredibly interesting. As a bookstagrammer, I spend a lot of time on social media. More than I’d like to admit. Ha! So, of course I wanted to read about what the future may hold! I really loved what the author did with this storyline and found it to be extremely entertaining.
To be quite honest, the characters soured my overall taste for this novel. I didn’t really like any of them. I find it difficult to form a strong connection to a story when I don’t find the characters to be very likable. I need to care about and/or relate to at least one of them. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen this time around. I found the majority of the characters to be selfish, greedy and juvenile.
So, do I recommend this book? For the most part, yes. As social media users, I think we all will enjoy the main idea of this story and find it refreshing. If you can look past the unlikable characters, then it will probably be a hit for you.
