Okay, this book was captivating. I couldn't look away. I loved the depiction of a present-day influencer, and I was even more enthralled by the author's imaginative, biting concept of how technology could change the way that we interact with celebrities in a chilling near-future. The world-building is so interesting, but the novel doesn't sacrifice the human drama of the scenarios it includes either. I really liked that it jumped back and forth between time periods, showing some of our present realities and then the sort of wildest possible implications they might have for the future. This book raises really interesting questions about social media, fan culture, and even marriage and gender issues. I think it has lots of interesting things to discuss - a great pick for a book club.
