I am interested in post humanism in literature, and the novel seems to be about how dependent we have become on the internet. The characters, horrifyingly for me, are easy to relate; and I wonder and worry if the novel is going to be a tragedy. It would make sense -- but still I hope and pray that it is not the case. What I really loved about the excerpt is that the dark theme does not overwhelm. There is humour, which is not idle banter or silly burleque, but wit that makes you think; and it is this wit that helps one tide over the nightmarish undercurrents lurking beneath the surface.
