This book had such an interesting premise, but while it had potential, it really fell flat for me.

Like, magic? Please! But even though the primary characters had magical abilities, they were hardly used! Some of their "gifts" just felt not very magical to me either. They were distraught over the family losing these generational abilities, but it didn't seem like a very big deal to me.

The love interest was fine, except when he used the weirdest nickname for our main character. Nine. Because of the NUMBER OF TEETH SHE SMILES WITH? I'd be so skeeved out.

The whole story just fit together too well. The author clearly used events to her convenience. I wasn't as invested as I wanted to be.

In all, I was really looking forward to this read, but it did not pull through. So much missed potential here. I'd recommend skipping this one, if I'm being honest.
