Flirting with Fate by J.C. Cervantes is a young adult title that has whispers of magic and romance. While lead Ava Granados is a "self-professed skeptic," mystical blessings are passed to the women in her family. Except when it comes to Ava, Nana accidentally gave her blessing to someone else. And that someone seems to be a boy Ava got into a fender bender with, rushing to get to Nana's death bed.
There's a lot of dialogue in the excerpt, which I think is appropriate for this story. I also like the southern California/LA setting.
The cover is cute, albeit a little "buddy cop" with the two leads posed back to back. I like the peach/pink cursive font used for the title.
