My attention was grabbed (firmly) with the first few words of the introduction...who was this narrator speaking to me? Maybe a god or force from beyond our world was setting up the story. I liked the story of family legend, and was thrilled that there was a gift to be inherited. And then, the story went all haywire and over the place. Not only do we get stopped from getting the gift, we don't even know what is being gifted. We wait too long to have Nana step from the death realm back into the real world. I don't think I have patience to continue with this read.
