Couldn't Even Finish It

I never thought I would DNF a First Look before.

Despite the amazing cover, I knew from the very first page I wouldn't like this book. The prologue section (which isn't truly a prologue in name, but acts like one) is written really strangely, but not in the sort of way that made me want to read more. It was in present tense and was really confusing, and I'm not sure where it fits with the rest of the story. Whose point of view is it in? Why is it included?

The introduction of the characters painted them as immature and annoying to read about. The three sisters are somewhere between their late teens and early 20s, but act like entitled kids. Their grandmother is dying, but all they care about is what gifts she will give them on her deathbed. Perhaps the characters are supposed to be annoying as a way to show their complete disrespect and character growth throughout the book. But I find it hard to start a book when a single character isn't likable.

I thought maybe I would skim through the rest of this First Look in order to get an idea of the last 30 pages, but I couldn't even bring myself to do that. I found instead that I was just scrolling in order to get to the end without reading a single word on the page and decided to give up instead.

This book definitely isn't for me, but I wish it the best regardless.
