What an intriguing, gripping fantasy novel! I was taken in from the start. Totally my kind of book. I don't usually care much for the writing style of first person---and in this case, written that way from two different perspectives---but this book does it well, and there is an easy distinction.
I love the story world of Callipolis and the Greek-ish feel of it's people and culture. The names, the characters, the plot, the story world---all serve as great bait for hooking in the readers, and KEEPING them hooked. I found myself feeling the emotions of the main characters and wondering at the mysteries of their backgrounds.
There were a handful of uses the English slang "bloody" and at least one use of "d---ing," but otherwise no other foul language in the few chapters I read.
