I'm not totally won over by this opening, but I think it'll be a fun book nonetheless -- anything with dragons sounds good to me, of course, and the aerial show for an audience in the first chapter caught my attention as something new.
The opening itself is rather well worn -- the bloody revolution, the old guard killed but leaving behind a child, that child working their way up to re-take what they've been denied... But maybe the full book will surprise me.
I do love that cover -- it's very striking without being needlessly ornate, and it leaves you in no doubt about what you're going to get inside the book. Dragons! Yaaay!
Looking forward to giving this a try when it's out, for sure. I'll hope to be impressed!
