I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. From the first look I was really excited to read the book but wasn't sure if I would end up liking it once I continued on with the story. I absolutely loved the book and was so sad when it was over. I loved getting to know all the characters and dreaded getting to the end of the story when I wouldn't be able to read about them anymore. I still love Duck just as much as I did from the first look (maybe more), and all of the other characters were fleshed out really well. I expected the book to focus more on the relationship between Annie and Lee, but was happy when the book actually ended up focusing more on them individually, rather than together. Their relationship was so interesting and was complicated in a way that made sense, it didn't feel like they weren't together simply because it made the story more intense. I'd be interested in a sequel for Fireborne to see how all the characters are doing and how the story has progressed. Overall, I thought this was such a good read and would absolutely recommend it to those who like fantasy and YA.
