Dragons, social castes, romance, jealousy, family rivalry, what else do you need in a book? Lee and Annie, two dragon riders split perspectives in Fireborne. They come from two completely different backgrounds but...met each other at an orphanage and have been friends ever since. They have been training together for the fast approaching Firstrider competition and the two can feel the tension building. Firstrider means everything, the one to lead the dragon armada. Annie and Lee are both projected to get to the finals but, which friend will win and how will that change their relationship? Turns out, that's the least of their problems.
This was a good fantasy book and a wonderful fictional world 4/5 stars. It was easy to get to know and love the characters. There is never a moment where you aren't in suspense. I finally have a copy of the sequel Flamefall and cannot wait to start it.
