Great worldbuilding is one of the MOST important things in a fantasy novel to me, and guys? this novel's worldbuilding? was so interesting. While the actual world is pretty familiar and not as fantastical as one might expect, I was still so intrigued by the politics that were in play and the hierarchy that was so prevalent within the narrative.
And that slow burn romance between Annie and Lee? Guys, SLOW BURN IS MY FAVORITE. I actually was so frustrated that they weren't together, and yet at the same time I didn't want them to be together because the tension was just 11/10.
I really, really loved this novel. There's a sequel, right?? (I'll be checking for other books by this author in the future.)
