The first thing that drew me in for this book is the glorious, detailed cover! The dragon, the brilliant red, the outlines of heads in the dragon wings-- I almost always judge a book by its cover and this one definitely did not disappoint.

This book is marketed as an adult fantasy; it is not. It is YA, though and through, and a good one. It's no penalty to be named for what you are: a book about teenagers.

That said, I loved this book. The plot, characters, and worldbuilding were fantastic. I wish there had been a map, but perhaps the finished copies will have one (crosses fingers). The pacing did drag just a bit in the middle of the book (I felt like perhaps it could have been about 10% shorter), but overall, I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the second one!!
