Captivating and immerseful
The cover doesn't do this book justice. The cover makes this seems like a common story all about dragons, with -- along with a red background -- some "child-friendly" violence. That's what the cover makes this book feel like: "child-friendly" Game of Thrones.
This book feels so much more than that.
From the very first page, the book introduces a complex question of morality and ethics (a "does the ends justify the means?" sort of thing), and the following pages give such a rich world-building experience that you KNOW this is a promising read. The characters are memorable and likeable; the writer describes the world and its culture with a knowing touch -- meaning, they know exactly what sort of things to bring to your immediate attention for the reader to see, hear, etc. exactly what the author does.
I absolutely can't wait until this book is out--I've been keeping an eye on it for a while--ever since it popped up on GoodReads. I hopes that it receives the recognition and praise it deserves... but the damn cover needs to change in order for that to happen!
