Finding Freedom is a memoir by Erin French, who grows up working in her father's diner and goes on to own a hot restaurant (surely, the sort of place I'll never even dream of dining in!).

I'm really interested in how she went from 21, working in the diner, pregnant and without a partner to help with the baby, to who she is today. But I'm much less interested in her childhood, and that's what much of the first look focused on. This isn't a critique of this book in particular but my personal preference for most memoirs.

I plan to keep reading, and hope that the remaining part on her childhood is more focused on her time in the diner (than her time on the farm and relationships with her immediate family). I'd also appreciate if there's no more content on drowning cats - not sure why that needed to be included.
