The first chapter is titled "Bacon and Ice Cream," so right away I was intrigued and felt I was going into a book with a playful (and delicious!) tone. At the same time, we are plunged immediately into a behind-the-scenes kitchen scene, into physically and mentally demanding work of the food industry, and the harsh reprimands and demands from her father (the owner of the diner). Definitely an intriguing book for any foodie or reader who loves an inside look at the restaurant industry or where their food comes from!
