I knew going into this read that it was going to be cheezy, and I was okay with that. There was a good development in the characters that helps to dilute the cheesiness and turn it into a really well-written romance.
The main character Lucky starts out as a girl who feels bad about herself and what she has gone through but develops into a woman who is able to accept herself for who she is.
Ransom is obviously in love with Lucky throughout the novel and while it takes him a while to realize that he would do anything for her, he is able to accept Lucky for who she is in the end.
Something that I really liked about this book was the inclusion of the side characters' romances in a way that allows the author to write more books about them. By starting the romances in this book, it allows the reader a chance to learn about the characters and have a reason to continue the series.
Overall, this book did a very good job at appealing to the romance community and the fantasy community in a way that includes some of the best parts of each.
