I decided to read this first impression but didn't hold out much hope of liking it. First, I generally don't like "self-help" books. Second, I generally don't like books about "God". I struggle with my faith you see, have been for many years and still haven't figured out where I fall in my beliefs.

However, surprised the hell out of me, because I actually really loved this first look. First, the author is funny and I can tell I would like him. Second, I think the first chapter came to me at a time I needed it. The words in the second to last paragraph "In fact, instead of loving people who are wonderful and loving and the ones we understand, I think God wants us to start with people we
don’t get." I work with troubled teens and encounter kids I don't "get" everyday. Some are easier to love than others, this is a good reminder for me to try harder. And the second chapter, well that was just beautiful. Thank you Bob Goff for the words and reminder. I would definitely give this book a fighting chance to help me on my journey to figure out my faith.
