I had high expectations for this book because I saw so many glowing reviews especially on goodreads. Needless to say that I thought I would give this book five stars, but spoiler alert I didn't. I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either.
The thing is that from the beginning, you know "mostly" how it ends. It's pretty clear that there are only a few things that could have happened, and I predicted all but one of the plot twists at the end. So that's why this book wasn't my new favorite thriller. I did grow to care about some of the characters. which I never do in any thriller book so that was what saved this book. I also loved the myriad of settings! It definitely helped keep the book interesting and engaging. We go from New York, to Washington DC, to Tulum, to Chicago, to small-town Nebraska.
Overall, if you're looking for an average thriller then check out Every last Fear. If you haven't read that many thrillers, then I think you'd really like this book.
