I was hooked from the very first sentence. The book tells the story of the Pine family. Oldest son, Danny, is in prison convicted of killing his high school girlfriend. The family was featured in a true crime documentary that changed everyone's lives and not necessarily for the better. Matt Pine is a student at NYU when he finds out that the remainder of his family was killed while in Mexico on a spring break trip. The story bounces between current and past events and is told from multiple points of view. The author does a great job of keeping the storyline straight so it is not difficult to follow. Each chapter feels like it ends with a little cliffhanger that makes you want to keep going. There are surprising twists and although I suspected it, I didn't completely figure out the ending. This book was well written and I can't wait to read more by this author.
