I read the first impression back in Nov 2020 and immediately pre-ordered it. I do not regret this decision.
Right from the first page, the book sucked me into its story. The Pine family went on vacation to Mexico and never returned. Their bodies were found by the cleaning staff and the Mexican authorities immediately rule it an accidental gas leak, however, the American government disagrees. The two oldest sons were not on this vacation as Matt was busy in college and Danny, the oldest, was in prison for murdering his girlfriend 7 years prior.
The story is told from several different points of view and some are in the past and some in the present. The story is masterly weaved together from these different points of view so there were times when i was yelling at the characters to not say or do something that I knew was going to cause a problem later.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all thriller lovers.
