This book truly lived up to the hype! It was engaging from the very beginning, with the changing perspectives being more than enough to keep me interested, but not too much as to create confusion.

Told from multiple perspectives and timelines, this book takes you through an international murder investigation from the perspective of the victims (mom, dad, only daughter, and youngest son), the family's two surviving sons, and the special agent in charge of the investigation. At the same time, the author slowly pieces together the story of the oldest son's murder conviction.

One small detail I loved about this book was its discussion of the topic of false confessions. Reading this story it is clear the author did some in depth research to determine how false confessions happen. In my studies I have looked at many false confessions and the one created by the author could have very well happened in the real world. This is a great way to get readers thinking about this idea, and hopefully learning more about the implications for real people.
