What a thriller of a book! Early on, I had a bit more of a critical eye on certain things - like some of the characters were a bit predictable and trite, in particular Matt's college friends were a bit cringeworthy. BUT!!! That view was short lived as this book sucked me in quickly and kept me reading all the way through. I loved the alternating perspectives that kept sharing bits of information about how the Pines ended up in Mexico and what happened to them. Meanwhile, we see Matt's journey to discover the truth. The strongest part of this novel was the readability and entertainment value. It's engaging and fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out what comes next. It's not a book that will stand up well to serious critiquing, but does that matter in the end? If a book is entertaining and enjoyable, it's good enough for me!
