I thought the opening scene was effective, but slowly started to lose interest once the main character was introduced. That "I just have the kind of face people confide in" cliche, his referring to a nickname like "Affleck" as "derogatory." So annoying. I almost laughed out loud when I read "He was an oddity to most of his classmates, an apolitical Midwesterner." I'M NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS much???
And then the contrivances started stacking up. Oh, and Finlay probably felt like he was doing something super special and interesting when he introduced Ganesh, which is embarrassing.
