As someone who grew up right by Washington Square Park, reading the excerpt both creeped me out and made me homesick for that area in NYC. Early on the author sets up two events that you know will be connected and meet in the middle but you're not yet sure how. I'm excited to learn more about this story and see if it's gripping as the first impression makes it seem!
