Right off the bat the premise of the book is intriguing. The true crime, documentary angle feels particularly timely, and who doesn't love a good mystery? Although I didn't feel a particular connection to any of the characters at this point in the story, I am certainly interested in where the plot is headed. It feels like it's setting up to be a particularly twist-filled book. I didn't appreciate the author's need to seemingly prioritize the non-white characters' races as the very first thing you know about them. The first descriptor he uses about one character is "black," and Ganesh, well, just in case he didn't make it abundantly clear with the name, he'll let you know in two separate ways in the first paragraph about the character that he is, of course, Indian. We can only assume all other characters are white as Finlay didn't feel the need to make any comments about their races. Beyond that, I enjoyed the writing style and think this could make for quite an interesting book.
