My first impression, was that by the cover in has to do with mystery-solving, and connecting dots. The cover showcases a blue board like background, with two transparent pin that's tide with nine red threads. There is contrast, hierarchy, and a review quote. As a designer my opinion is, that the cover could easily be connected with what's yet to come with the story. Each thread can symbolize each member that has been lost in the Mexico trip, and the pins, the persons that connect them all together. This is a very clever design, and for that I must give is a 4.5/5.
In terms about the story, it's mysterious, family crime, drama, and I could see some action/horror coming out of it. It is mainly about this college student named Matt Pine, who while in the institute, receives some devastating news about his family going missing while a vacation on Mexico, the police telling him that their family died in a gas leak, while the FBI not seeming to tell the whole truth. The story continues, with Matt knowing some secrets of his brother leading him to think that he might have had a hand in the incident. Matt will take on the case individually, to find what happened, and who was responsible, while being followed by the media and having his brother in prison.
Personally, I am not very into crime novels, however I must admit sounds very interesting and inviting towards those who do. So while I don't like this type of books, I do find that readers who like this genre will find it a good read.
