Enter the Body presents the reader with a unique take on some of Shakespeare’s classic tales and famous storylines. But rather than the characters after whom many of the plays are named, these characters are some of the lesser known characters - the women.
Written in a series of poems, offset by conversations amongst the characters who wait together in the “trap room” below the stage, the characters first share their story from their point of view, a viewpoint that was not historically the one from which the story was told. Following this retelling of each story, and the characters’ questions of one another, the characters finish their stories with a retelling of their tale as if tragedy had not struck them.
The one piece that I found to be difficult with this book was my lack of familiarity with a few of the plays. I found myself looking them up in an attempt to familiarize myself with the storylines. While I appreciated the Cast of Characters that was provided at the beginning of the book, a brief synopsis of each play would also have been appreciated.

Overall, such a fun book!
