I loved the way this book unfolded. In some ways it was reminiscent of Greek Myth retelling from the female point of view, but this is only part of the concept. This book is a remix of several Shakespeare stories, some poetry, a new play, and a ghost story.

We start this play in the trap room of the theater and meet the female victims of Shakespeares plays. These characters are destined to relive their tragic lives like ghosts in the shadows until they are called upon to suffer once more. Juliet, Ophelia, and Cordelia take turns sharing their stories and why their outcomes were not just tragic theatre but personal tragedies. While some hope for happier endings others believe thier suffering is destiny. While knowledge of each of the plays is helpful it is not required as the plots (at least from the female POV) do a fine job of filling in the missing elements. This is a perfect book for someone who wants to learn about The Bard and his plays in a fresh way
