I'm afraid this book will definitely not be for me based on the excerpt. It's far too violent and depressing and sucks the joy out of all of Shakespeare - there's a lot of older classic literature where one has to turn a blind eye to blatant misogyny, racism, classism, ableism, and all sorts of other -isms to enjoy and I'm not sure I particlularly enjoy pointing that out in book form. Much of it is written in verse form as Shakespeare would've been, too, and I find that format irritating as well - so all in all what I thought was an interesting premise at first glance turned out to be not my cup of tea at all.
