As an actor as well as Shakespeare nerd, stumbling upon this book when checking out new releases intrigued me. Seeing Bookish had a first look got me even more excited!!
What I loved about the excerpt was the first pages felt like reading stage directions. I love the concept that these tragic heroines drop from the trap door once their show is done. What I found even more interesting was the style of writing used to tell each woman's story. The fact it is in verse and (alluded to) that each play each woman is featured in gets a summary.
I will say my favorite part is that the most focus is on the characters that don't get talked about as much, including Lavinia who has it the worse of them all.
I hope this book sparks more interest in Shakespeare for readers and brings up more topics on how Shakespeare wrote women and their fates.
