This takes the great women of Shakespeare's works and does them justice by telling their tragic stories in a truley original way. The language is an odd combination of modern and Shakespeare-era english. Much of it is told in the form of sonnets. This work seems to walk the line between being homage to Shakepeare and tapping into unrealized potential of the women in his plays. They were often incredibly complex and will written characters, but were all to often relegated to the role of supporting cast instead of protagonist. The dark and tragic elements of these women's stories are not skipped over, but instead explored. Be forwarned, it's quite dark. If you're looking for something that matches Shakespeare's style exactly, this isn't it. Neither is written in modern-english style. All in all, it seems like a very intersting and compelling read. I rarely go for Shakespeare retellings (prefering productions of the original plays myself), but this is well worth a read.
