With its rich detail and subtle humor, Endurance by Scott Kelly captured my attention from the start. This book gives the reader a behind the scenes look at Kelly’s record setting feat of spending a year in space. The book also chronicles his path from a student uninterested in school to a top NASA astronaut.
I have long been interested in space, but unlike Kelly have not been up for such an adventure or challenge. As luck would have it, this book, Endurance, provides a detailed look at what space travel is really like, what his mission entailed and how difficult it was due him and his body to adjust back to life on Earth. The book has ups and downs, including the tragedy in which his sister in law Gabrielle Giffords was shot during a meeting with her constituents in Arizona. This book is a must read for fans of space travel or biographies in general!
