In fantasy I have joined Capt. Kirk “To go where no man has gone before”, ridden as a passenger on Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, and been menaced by Hal in 2001. The sample of Scott Kelly’s Endurance gives me a beginning taste of the reality that before I have only experienced in imagination. At this late date, I know that I will never travel to space but I am pretty certain that I am an ancestor of those who will and I am excited to learn more of what their experiences may be.
