Excellent story. Empire of Lies tells the story of an alternate-history Paris, that is controlled by the Ottoman Turk regime. The story is based on the premise that the Ottomans were able to defeat the Roman Empire and eventually conquer all of Europe. The reader learns that this has happened through the means of time travel and that one man is responsible for changing the course of history. Our protagonist learns of the time traveler and finds the key to traveling himself and thus begins a fight to alter the history of the world (or maybe, in our view, to correct the history of the world). Khoury brilliantly blends the old world and the new together into a story that will keep you reading into the night.
