Thank you BookishFirst and Celadon Books for this winning copy of Elsewhere. I was completely floored when I won a copy of this book. The cover is what grabbed me first. It's so beautiful! The next thing that grabbed me was the description of the book. It's definitely not a light read. It's very deep and thought-provoking. I would say this book will go into my "most unique" category of books.
I was hooked from the very first chapter and couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the themes of identity and motherhood. It touches on the role that mothers are supposed to have and the path on which women take when on when they receive the title of "mother." It also delves into the topic of what it means to be a mother and how your children define your being, you eventually lose your identity. I really enjoyed Vera's character. She herself lost her mother when she was young, and feels as though she needs to be able to be close to her is when she becomes a mother herself. Very interesting read! Highly recommend!
