This is the second book I have read from this author and was simply entranced from the beginning. It begins in a village where the mothers disappear and this is accepted as their norm. No one ever questions why this happens, or where the mothers go. I am not going to spoil this one so will not go into great detail, however this is definitely worth the read for all mothers. There is so much symbolism and so many layers to this book. The book is a reminder of the importance of the dynamic of the mother for a child and how this role is carried on even after childhood for women. I think this will be a book that people will develop a different take on from others, however there is just so much going on as we follow this Vera in her journey. This book was heartbreaking in parts and just immensely lyrical and beautiful. Thanks for the ARC, Goodreads. I found this book to be intensely fascinating
