This first thing I noticed about this excerpt is that the writing style while still descriptive and had the style of book people would usually find confusing, was helpful in imagining the environment and what was going on. It was still a harder focus books and of course not like a contemporary writing but it still had actual information. I've seen this with many books where the style makes it confusing and even if it is heavily descriptive, it doesn't actually tell anything. I think this was good and would definitely want to read more of it.
